Common questions
Is there a setup fee?
No. There are no setup fees, onboarding fees, or hidden charges of any kind. You pay a flat monthly subscription.
Do you take a cut of rent collected?
Never. Your rent is your rent. We charge a flat monthly fee regardless of how much you collect.
What counts as a 'unit'?
Any rentable space — a bedsitter, a 3-bedroom apartment, a commercial shop, a warehouse bay. Each one counts as one unit.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes. You can upgrade at any time and the change takes effect immediately. Downgrading takes effect at the start of the next billing cycle.
What happens after the free trial?
You'll be prompted to add a payment method. If you don't, your account is paused (not deleted) — you can reactivate any time.
Do I need my own M-Pesa paybill?
Yes — you'll need a Safaricom Daraja API credential. Makazi connects to your existing business number. We can help you get one if you don't have it.
Is my data secure?
Each organisation's data is isolated in its own database schema. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, with role-based access controls, and we operate in line with the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Statements, rent rolls, payment records and tax certificates can be exported to CSV or PDF at any time. Your data is yours.
Does it handle multiple owners?
Yes. You can manage properties for many owners under one account, with a separate statement and payout for each, and deduct your management fee automatically.
What support is included?
Every plan includes email support. Professional and Enterprise add priority support, and Enterprise includes a dedicated account manager and onboarding help.
