Makazi Technologies Ltd ("Makazi", "we", "our") is a company incorporated in Kenya. We operate a property management platform available at makazi.co.ke. Our registered office is in Nairobi, Kenya. For data-related enquiries contact: privacy@makazi.co.ke

We collect data you provide directly (name, email address, phone number, organisation details, property and tenant information) and data collected automatically when you use the platform (log data, IP address, browser type, pages visited, session duration). We do not collect sensitive personal data such as biometric data or health information.

We use your data to: - Provide and operate the Makazi platform - Process M-Pesa payments and send payment notifications - Generate invoices and KRA-compliant tax receipts - Send SMS, WhatsApp, and email notifications on your behalf to your tenants - Provide customer support - Improve our product based on usage patterns - Comply with legal obligations under Kenyan law

We do not sell your data. We share data only with: - Payment processors (Safaricom for M-Pesa, banks for landlord payouts) as required to process transactions - Communication providers (Africa's Talking for SMS, Meta for WhatsApp, SendGrid for email) to deliver notifications - Kenya Revenue Authority when legally required for eTIMS compliance - Our infrastructure providers (cloud hosting, storage) under data processing agreements All sub-processors are contractually required to protect your data.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Financial records (invoices, payment receipts, tax documents) are retained for 7 years as required by Kenyan tax law. When you close your account, non-financial personal data is deleted within 90 days.

We use industry-standard security practices: data encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+), encrypted at rest, role-based access controls, and regular security reviews. Each organisation's data is isolated in a dedicated database schema.

Under the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019 you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights email privacy@makazi.co.ke. We will respond within 30 days.

We use session cookies for authentication and analytical cookies to understand platform usage. You can disable cookies in your browser but this may affect platform functionality.

We may update this policy. Material changes will be notified by email at least 14 days before taking effect. The current version is always at makazi.co.ke/privacy.
